Modern Foreign Language

Learning French at The Meadows

Starting in Year 3, children at The Meadows learn to communicate in French. During Years 3 and 4, the emphasis is on listening to sounds in a new language and learning how to pronounce new words and phrases accurately. Children experience simple conversation. The curriculum is sequenced so that there is a gradual progression toward written forms in Years 5 and 6. Content is organised into topics and these are repeated so that children develop a depth of experience in their new language.
