Monday

Every Monday, children come together for singing assembly to enjoy making music and develop their singing skills. They practise singing clearly, controlling their breathing and using their voices with confidence and expression. Through a variety of songs, children develop their understanding of rhythm, pitch and melody while strengthening their listening and memory skills. Singing is an important part of our curriculum, encouraging creativity, concentration and teamwork. Sharing music together also builds confidence and a sense of belonging within our school community.

Tuesday

Our Tuesday assembly focuses on one of school values and explores its links to British Values and protected characteristics. Through stories, activities and thoughtful questions, children consider themes such as fairness, inclusion and belonging. These assemblies provide time to reflect and think deeply about how our values guide our choices and actions. Children are encouraged to appreciate different perspectives and consider how they can contribute positively to our school community and the wider world. After each assembly, we gather pupil voice to capture children’s thoughts, concerns and questions. Their contributions help us understand what matters to them and shape future discussions.

Wednesday

On Wednesdays, the whole school comes together for an assembly led by a senior leader, focusing on our behaviour curriculum. These assemblies help children understand how their choices affect themselves and those around them. Through shared examples and thoughtful questions, children reflect on their actions and think deeply about their responsibilities towards others. We explore how positive behaviour helps everyone feel safe, respected and ready to learn. After each assembly, we gather pupil voice to capture children’s thoughts, concerns and questions. Their contributions help guide future discussions and support our work to build a caring school community.

Thursday

On Thursdays, we welcome a visitor from a local church group to lead an assembly rooted in stories and teachings from the Bible. These stories are brought to life to help children explore key messages and their connections to our school values of relationships, respect and resilience. Each assembly offers an opportunity to consider different perspectives and reflect on how our views, choices and behaviour affect ourselves and others. Further links are made to protected characteristics in a child-friendly way. Children are encouraged to think deeply about how these messages relate to their own lives and experiences. Afterwards, we gather pupil voice, giving children space to share their thoughts, raise concerns and ask questions. These responses help us understand their experiences and identify ideas to explore further.

Friday

On Fridays, our school community comes together for a celebration assembly, with parents warmly welcomed to join us in recognising children’s efforts and achievements. A PowerPoint presentation shares highlights from the week, showcasing learning and memorable moments across the school. Each class teacher nominates a child for recognition, and a pupil in each class also nominates a peer, giving children the opportunity to celebrate one another’s successes. We also recognise wonderful behaviour, sporting achievements and awards earned outside school. Birthdays are celebrated together, adding to the joy of this weekly gathering. We finish with a shared moment of reflection, drawing on our school values as a focus.
